How to Clean White Sneakers

We all have in our closet a beloved pair of white sneakers that have definitely seen better days. Whether you pair them with a dress or a pair of jeans, white sneakers are one of the most versatile items in your wardrobe. The only downside is, white is hard to keep clean once you start wearing them. But luckily we have some tips on how to revive your favourite white sneakers, back to white.

How to Clean White Leather Shoes

Leather is one of the easiest to clean as it doesn’t absorb as much water as other fabrics. So you will need:

  1. Paper Towels

  2. Cotton rags or an old t-shirt

Step 1: Wet Paper towel and squeeze out excess water. Gently wipe down outside of shoe to remove any large amounts of dirt. Once clean let your shoes dry for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Wet a Chux Magic Eraser and squeeze out excess water. Rub the Magic Eraser up and down the soles of your shoes until any dirt and stains are gone. Make sure the Magic Eraser is damp but not dripping on your shoes.

Step 3: Wet your rag or shirt and lather it in the Ivory soap. Massage the shoe until it returns back to its original white. Once done, let your shoes dry for another 10 minutes. This step may need to be repeated a few times depending on how dirty your shoes were.

How to Clean Suede Shoes

You will need:

  1. Soft Cotton Cloth

  2. Pencil Eraser

  3. White Vinegar

  4. Suede Brush

Step 1: Blot shoes with soft cotton cloth to assist in removing any moisture. Then gently rub any stains with the pencil eraser. If shoes are wet when you are cleaning them place a paper towel onto any wet stains and apply pressure. Ensure you don’t rub as the stains could spread across the shoe.

Step 2: With any hard to remove stains dip the cloth in white vinegar and gently rub any remaining stains. When finished let your shoes dry and then rub the outside of the shoes with the suede brush as this will help them return to that velvety texture.
