Benefits of using a Laundromat

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

Does it feel like laundry is a never-ending battle in your home? Everyone wants clean clothes, but no one wants to spend hours doing back-to-back loads.

You can’t avoid doing laundry, but you can make it easier with laundromat services. You can often save time and money at a laundromat over doing it yourself at home.

Keep on reading to learn the benefits of using laundromat services for your mountains of laundry.

Wash Everything at Once

On average, a family has 8 to 10 loads of laundry to wash every week. Getting through all that laundry at home with one washer, and if you’re lucky, one dryer can take hours.

At a self-service laundromat, you can load multiple washers and dryers, so you can tackle all of your loads at the same time. You can still get those same 8 to 10 loads done, but it only takes the amount of time it would to do one load at home. Furthermore, laundromat facilities use commercial washing machines, which are often much larger than home washing machines. So, your 8 to 10 loads, may actually be reduced to 3 to 5 loads.

If you choose a full-service laundromat with wash and fold services, like ours, you save even more time. You can either use our drive thru facility at Morayfield, visit us in store at Ascot, or book in a home delivery service. So, getting the washing done is achievable for everyone!

Use Larger Washers and Dryers

Normal-sized washers and dryers are fine for clothes, but they often make washing doonas, blankets, dog beds, and other large items difficult. Laundromats have larger-capacity washers and dryers with plenty of space for larger items. Those larger things can move around freely to ensure they get clean and dry faster. At Rinse & Repeat, you will find on site 11 washing machines ranging from 10kg to 27kg capacities, and 8 dryers at 13kg or 20kg capacities.

Easy to Use

Laundromats might seem intimidating, but the high-powered commercial washers and dryers are very straightforward to use. What's even better, we are starting to see a shift from the traditional laundromat setting with more and more laundromats offering cashless payments. At Rinse & Repeat, we are completely cashless! Instead of a coin slot, you will find on each of our machines a QR code to pay with or you can use the tablet on the wall to pay. Additionally, most laundromats have large tables where you can fold your laundry when it’s done in the comfort of a clean and air-conditioned space.

Opting for a full-service wash and fold is even easier. You simply bag up your laundry in preparation for your drop-off at our facilities or for your pickup.

Reduce Your Water and Energy Bills

A standard washing machine uses about 130 litres of water per load. Even Energy Star washers use 60 litres of water per load. If you do 10 loads of laundry every week, that’s anywhere from 600 to 1,300 litres of water just on laundry.

You also use lots of electricity powering your washer and dryer. Between water and electricity, washing laundry can increase your utility bills. When you use a self-service laundromat, you cut down on your water and energy consumption at home. You’ll likely notice a drop in your bills if you make the switch.

Save Money

Doing your laundry at a laundromat costs money, but it’s probably more affordable than you think. The utility bill decrease is only one part of it. You can also save on the actual machines. If you do all your laundry at a laundromat, you don’t even have to buy a washer and dryer for your home.

Washing machines can cost anywhere from $500 to $3000 and dryers typically range from $400 to $3000. At a laundromat, you get access to commercial-quality machines with lots of features for a low price. Plus, you don’t have to maintain the machines yourself. Especially if you have older machines that break down frequently, you could spend a lot on those repairs.

At Rinse & Repeat, you wash price even includes auto-injected detergent and softener. Another thing you don't have to remember to bring. If you wish to view our pricing please click here.

If you use a wash and fold service, you also eliminate the cost of buying detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, and other products you use to wash and dry your clothes. That savings can cover at least a portion of the price you pay to have someone else wash your laundry, which means it’s a lot more affordable than you think.

Handle Other Errands or Spend Time doing what you like!

Washing your clothes at a laundromat doesn’t have to take up all of your time. You can load your laundry and do something else while you wait. Some people simply like to sit and relax while their clothes wash. Others might bring along a book to read for enjoyment or a laptop to do some work while they wait. You can even swing by a nearby café, go to the gym, have a massage, or do your grocery shopping while you wait.
